Narconon Rehab Success Story - D. G.

Get Help Now

My name is D. G. I started using drugs when I was 14 years old. I started with marijuana with in a year I was using cocaine. By the time I graduated high school I was dealing. Then I went to collage in less then a semester I was kicked out for numerous reasons one of them being drugs and was caused by the drugs. By then I had realized drugs had consumed my life I wanted to quit. Every time I tried something would happen, I could only deal with it under the influence of drugs. At this time I was using more and more and using different drugs to cope with my life. "It helps me stay calm and relaxed" is what I would tell my self. My life and my self-esteem had hit rock bottom and I was just going deeper. Then in April of 2005 it was brought to my attention that everything I thought I was hiding from the people I loved the most wasn't really hidden every body in my family new what I was doing. Then Narconon was brought to my attention by my uncle. I really wanted to stop the drug abuse but I didn't know how to do it on my own I had tried so many times and failed, so when it was brought up I was more than willing to give it a try. When I first started the program I thought what most of the students I was going through with at the time, "How does staring at some one for an hour help my problem."

By the time I could answer that question it had already worked on me and I didn't realize it I was able to actually look some one in the face when I talked to them I had rarely made eye contact with anyone in years. By the end of the program I had gotten so much out of it and was able to deal with anything that came my way, not by hiding behind drugs and hoping they would go away but by facing them and fixing them at that moment in time. The biggest test I had to face was coming home and facing the people I had wronged and standing up to those who I thought were my friends but were just there to endue my habit. When I got back home I was hoping that what I learned from the program really would help me. My first test came the day after I got back I went to hang out at my old pool hall and shoot a couple of games with some my real friends, the one that didn't use drugs the ones that were truly happy that I was willing to do something about my problem. While me and my buddy were out in the parking lot talking this guy that I knew came up and started using cocaine right in front of me then offered some to me and I was able to get up tell him no and walk away from the situation, right after that it felt like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders and from that moment on I knew that the program really was worth it, it had saved me. I am now 21 years old and having the time of my life, I have a great job that I love. I have now been drug free for a year and a half, and counting. The staff and students at Narconon saved my life and I owe what I am now to them.
